over due, feeling restless

Hi , I'm expecting my 3rd, only 3 days over due but this "just waiting" gets me down...

I had my check up last Monday, the baby is fine. I prefer to labour starts naturally ,not induced, so my Dr. gave me a week to see what happens. My next appointment is next Monday, 26th of July.

I feel restless/down/very irritated as I can't go anywhere, can't do too much. Maybe a bit of walking but the weather is so bad the past week here in Ireland.

My in-laws lives near by and they ring me every single day that gets my nerves as well.

I know it won't be long til my labour but my patience wears thin..

Is there anyone out there in the same situation?

I remember feeling exactly the same, and demanded that my husband take me out somewhere, anywhere, when I was a week overdue. We went to the cinema but timed it so it woukd have been too late to eat afterwards but there was no time to go to a restaurant beforehand so ended up having nasty cinema chicken nuggets and chips, followed by 3 hours (or whatever) of Avatar. Waters broke a couple of hours later.

Never mind a curry - go eat some overpriced fried rubbish!! Sorry about your in-laws though; that must be really irritating. Why don't you suggest that you'll ring them if there's any news but until then you'd like ABSOLUTE SILENCE!

Hi Flossbert,

Thanks for your comment, I had false labour last night, around 1am, I thought at last I'm going to hospital, but after 2hours or so, my contractions are gone, I just fell asleep......so today, I am still waiting!!
I feel grumpy as I didn't get much sleep...

I just don' t feel like going out at the moment but perhaps I should go to cinema! We have DD age 9, DS7, so it would be a hassle to get baby sitter etc. though.

Tried Curry, but gave me a bad hurtburn so I will get some overpriced fried rubbish!

Is pineapple any help??

I wish I could tell my in -laws to leave us alone until we have some news!

wish me luck..

Know exactly how you feel. I am 40+4 with my second child and totally fed up. Lots of BH over the last couple of weeks which is resulting in lack of sleep, couple of hours at a time then nothing!

I am so fed up of the well meaning texts and questions asking if I've had the baby yet, like I was going to keep it a secret!

Tried pineapple - ate a whole one, drinking loads of Raspberry leaf tea, sex, walking, scrubbing kitchen and bathroom and walking up and down hills ( we live in the peak district) all to no avail.

Had MW app today and spent 30 mins crying, not entirely sure why, just completely fed up.

Neither of us can have to wait that long surely.

Hoping we both get a better nights sleep or a baby soon!xxx
I really want to avoid chemical induction but I am probably going to take up the sweep offered for Sunday in the hope that something happens.

Jenny95 · 22/07/2010 21:38

Does the sweep hurt??

EllaRees · 23/07/2010 04:41

I am now 41 weeks with first baby, no signs of anything happening and feel really upset. It's been such a straightforward (and a surprise!) pregnancy I don't understand why my body seems to be falling at the last hurdle. Feel like I'm against the clock of induction booked in for Wednesday...

bluefootedpenguin · 23/07/2010 06:28

Had a sweep during a long latent phase with my first baby. It was quite uncomfortable as they have a good poke about afterwards I think I felt quite achy.

horseymum · 23/07/2010 09:46

am due on Sunday but have asked mw for a sweep on Monday as went into labour on due date with ds1 and dd2 and had them next day, so hoping i won't need it. will cry if i am 10 days overdue or something, don't think i could stand it having got my heart set on this one being only 1 day late! sweep was a wee bit uncomfomfortable last time but nothing compared to labour so no big deal for me. it only works if you are pretty ready anyway i think, maybe just urging things on a bit.

stardustsmile · 24/07/2010 14:49

Hi GIRLS,
I'm still here, just waiting. Over due 6th days!!!
I had a sweep my last 2 labours but that was after going to the actual labour, not for inducing.
I had BH or false labour last wed and last night. Only a few hours then nothing. Luck of sleep, bored, can' t go anywhere....
Sorry for my rant...

BLUEFOOTED PENGUIN- Hope you have a baby soon, It might happen tomorrow for you! best of luck! My appoitment is next Mon., I think I will take induction offer this time. Totally fed up at this stage...

JENNY95-
Sweep didn't hurt that much, just a bit uncomfortable. good luck!

ELLAREES-
You will get there, 80% of pregnancy is over due, supposedly. Only few arrives on due date!(so I was told) It could happned before next wed! keep finger crossed for you.

HORSEYMUM-
You might have a sweep next mon., or it could happen before then! I thought I would have this baby on due date+1 so it's hard now + 6days....my DD1 was +2, my DS2 was-2 days. Best of luck this time!

Soooooooo fed up now! had about 10 hours of contractions yesterday and really thought that was it. Had such a crap nights sleep and they eventually just stopped and left me with chronic backache!

I went 4 days over with DD and can't believe I am now 6 days over with my second baby. All of this is made so much worse by the fact that my due date calculated by my LMP was now 18 days ago and I was sure this would be the more accurate.

Good luck to everyone.xxx

stardustsmile · 25/07/2010 15:43

10 hours contractions and didn't happen- poor thing! Hope you could catch up some of sleep during the day? Hope you had a sweep today and that made the difference!

I'm still waiting, had a bit of mild contractions last night. My Check up tomorrow Mon, I think just ask a sweep and see what happens.

Good luck x

Had a sweep which was really uncomfortable and been achy all day but nothing so far. MW said if it is to work it will be within 3 days. Booked into hospital for scans Fri and Induction Sunday if nothing happens before this. Sick of BH on and off constantly and wondering if this is the start of something!

Hope tomorrow goes well for you.x
