Aches and pains at 7 weeks

Hi

I am 33 and now about 7 weeks pregnant with my first, we had been trying for 3 years so are both over the moon, yet very apprehensive, which I guess is normal.

I have been getting aches and pains in my lower abdomen, kind of like period cramps but also like a balloon feels like it is being slightly expanded. I have also been getting an achy coxic bone. No sickness yet but very tired. Has anyone else been experiencing these kind of aches too?

Hiya,

I had this around that point - lots of different aches and pains. Some I think were related to things stretching and so forth, and some (I'm afraid to say!) are related to wind/bloating/digestive issues!! The hormones make your digestive system slow down and sometimes the extra gas as a result can be quite painful.

As it's all in the same sort of "area" it's quite disconcerting, but what you described sounds normal to me.

Hope that helps!! Congrats on your pregnancy, very exciting!

Thanks for that, I really appreciate it. My friend who has recently had a baby appears to have blocked out her entire 9 months and can't remember anything!

I had this with my first and was told by a midwife I was going to miscarry and then told me I would have to have a D&C. She was very abrupt and unfeeling when I said I felt even worse now.

That baby is now 9.

In my case it was all the stretching needing to be done to house this new being.

Try not to worry.

God how awful worrying you like that. Thank you for the reassurance, it is much appreciated whilst venturing into the unknown!

  • also, most of my friends have reported the same symptoms in early pregnancy!! One said she felt like she had period pains the whole of the first trimester, her baby boy is now 18mths.

You'll probably block it all out in due course too. Good luck for the rest of it!!

coventgarden - can't believe your MW said that, that's just mean. Glad it all worked out just fine.

I'm 26wks with my first, and have suffered lots of stertching pains! I now wake up regularly in the night with leg cramps but I escaped all the morning sickness so can't complain. Congratulations, its so exciting!

She said a lot more but I have blocked it out.

We did nearly lose him at the end but that was just coincidence.

OP, what you describe sounds perfectly normal. I had it with my first and was sure I was miscarrying - he's almost 3 now. I'm 6+4 now and have the exact same feelings again. Hope that helps put your mind at ease.

Thank you, it is all a very strange combination of excitement and worry at the same time. I really appreciate all of the responses it really sets my mind at ease. Good look SarahScot with your second too.

I am now trying to write two 2000 word essays with a very cloudy head, all good fun, I am sure that they will make for an interesting read!
