Following on from my "help!" thread yesterday about morning sickness, I'm just about containing it today by constantly eating. Although the thought of eating is stomach-churning, while I'm actually eating I feel okay.

So far this morning have eaten:
2 pieces of toast
3 hobnobs
3 satsumas
1 ham sandwich with mayo.

All this before 11 a.m.! I'm going to get SOOO fat. Anyone else as much of a glutton as me?

Hi there, how far along are you? Im 35 weeks now but have always always been able to eat like a horse all morning! and then less during the rest of the day.

I had dreadful morning sickness for 5months and it was the only way to kind of keep it at bay a little.

I will confess though that my morning grazing contained a lot more unhealthy stuff than yours! So go for it!

I'm only 6+4 - lot's of time for extreme wait gain left!!!

oh in the early days I was honestly eating all the time!! you do sit and think Im going to be the size of a house but if it helps with the sickness then dont change it, lots of fruit and flapjacks used to help me.
Dont worry, you'll prob find that youre eating habits change throughout the whole pregnancy!
Good luck with it all!

Sarah so far this morning I have had a bowl of cereal, two slices of toast and a banana and am seriously considering whether I can make it until lunch!

I get heartburn if I eat and heartburn if I'm hungry so I go for the former and then at least I'm happy rather than hungry.

Morning sickness is pants isn't it. I'm thankfully past that (31) but at least people expect me to be a glutton And my bump is big enough to detract from the size of my ever expanding bum!!

sarah - i had this early on in pregnancy too, i really did feel like the very hunbgry catepiller. as long as there was food in my stomach i didnt feel sick.

by 15 weeeks pg i had put on 2 stone, but then completly lost my appitite and really didnt want any food and am now only 1 stone heavier than i was pre preg

i found that you really do have to do what your body is telling you, try to keep it healthy but sometimes thoes cravings just need feeding.

i'm now 25 weeks and find that i'm really hungry in the morning when i wake up (5am! the hunger wakes me!), and then at 11.30 then fine untill 4pm when i need to eat my 'evening meal' and am then not hungry untill the next morning its a right pain finding food i can cook for me and re-heat for dh when he gets home at 8!

Hi there,

I'm the same, this morning I ate a bowl of cereal, piece of toast, 1 mandarin, a pack of crackers (those salted ones that are joined together with perforations) with a babybel cheese and that only just held me off till 12.30 for lunch!

and I've been known to eat more than that before lunch!

Don't worry I was like that with my first pregnancy too- I put on a pretty average amount of weight. I also had to eat a bowl of cereal every night before bed to stave off the hunger till morning.

I know they say you only need to consume 200/300 more calories a day in your last trimester but if that was the case why are we all ravenous! Our bodies must need the extra energy.

enjoy it as after the pregnancy you'll be trying to do the opposite!

My jaws haven't stopped moving throughout my whole pregnancy! And I'm not the size of a house. Two breakfasts followed by substantial elevenses are a pregnancy must imo! Like you I found that in the first trimester I only stopped feeling nauseous when I was eating. Don't worry.

Hi everyone, im 39 weeks today. i was just wondering..ive got loads of stretch marks..on my stomach, hips, thighs, arms, boobs. is this to do with how much ive been eating or because of my skins elasticity??

sarahscot · 21/07/2010 16:06

Jenny, I think it's more to do with your skin than what you've been eating. There's only so much a good diet and bio-oil cab do. I've got loads of stretchmarks from my first pregnancy - I just have crap skin! A friend who has 3 babies and was HUGE with each pregnancy has none at all, just a peachy smooth stomach.
