6 tests - 3 positive, 1 negative, 2 faintly positive

HELP!! I'm just over a week late. I've taken three pregancy tests. The first said on Friday 'pregnant', overjoyed, the second I did so my partner on saturday so he could see it and it came up negative, destroyed... Went to Boots and got a clear blue digital test which came up positive 1-2 weeks pregnant. Overjoyed again.

Went to the Drs Monday to have it confirmed and he said the test he did was negative but then became faintly positive. Did another test after I'd been to the Dr's and it said pregnant again, this time it was 2-3 weeks.

Sent for an internal scan (had today) as Dr wanted to confirm the pregnancy plus I have this intermittent tugging/dull ache on my side. The hospital did a test and that came back faintly positive. Had the internal scan and there was nothing in the uterus except for a cyst on my right ovary (this could explain the tugging/ache) and apparently is normal in early pregnancy.

Totally confused and trying not to get too upset. Had my bloods taken and will have them done again on Thursday, getting the results on Friday. Fingers crossed the HCG result will double. Three possible answers for nothing in the uterus, I'm either very early in the pregnancy and it isn't showing yet, its a failed pregnancy or worst case scenario, its ectopic. I'm fearing the worst here.

Has anyone experienced this and should I prepare myself for the worst?

You are pregnant by the sounds of it. Some tests are just not very sensitive, and it is very early for a scan.

I used a Clearblue Digital test when I thought I was pregnant the first time and got a clear positive so I made an appointment with the GP. When he did the test it was negative - he said the ones they use are not nearly as sensitive as the ones we buy.

I was pregnant but the shock of him saying negative was awful.

Fingers crossed for you.

I had to have 2 tests at the doctors because the first one was so faint they questioned whether it had come up positive at all (this after 2 positives at home, but one faint), they used a different type of test for the second one, and whilst still faint, definitely there. At a week late your hCG levels won't be very high so less sensitive tests won't detect the hormone. You need to remember that false positives are extremely rare whereas false negatives more common, for this reason.

Also agree with ChoChoSan, is is very early for a scan. All sounds normal so far...

Congratulations

Oh, also, I had the intermittent pain/tugging on one side and suspected ectopic as history of PID.

Scan at 4+5 showed it was in the right place, albeit very early.

Really hoping for the best for you.
