Hi All

Will try to keep this as short as poss.

I'm tring to decide wheither or not to ask doctor to refer me for a scan. I'm 9 weeks pregnant and my 12 week scan date is not for another month. We are going on hols next week no flight, self catering for 3 weeks. My family will all be at home during this time as will my DH's. THe house we've booked is near them all.
I would love to tell all on the 3rd week when (fingers crossed) i'm 12 weeks.

My history is that I have had 2 DC and 7mc's. All at various stages up to 14 weeks.

I have opted not to be scanned early this time as wanted to do things "normal".
I have had cramping on and off mainly when tired but no bleeding.
Apart from the DC's I reached 14 weeks once, told everybody our news then a week later went for the 14 week scan and was told that I had a mmc. Then had to tell everyone that I had a mmc
So do I

  1. Not tell even though family will be home from abroad.
  2. Tell and hope for the best.
  3. Ask my doctor to send me for a scan as I'm driving myself round the bend.

If I go with 3 and it's not good news where does that leave our holiday, but I know how delighted they will all be if all is ok and would love to tell face to face not over the phone.

Get an early scan. It will put your mind at rest and you can enjoy your holiday. I am sure it will be good news and imagine how much better that will make the holiday. If it is bad news, maybe a holiday will be needed to recover....

I had 2 early scans before my 12 week scan and it really put my mind at rest. I will still nervous before my 12 week and my 20 week but not as nervous as I would have been had I not had the early scans.

Wow - tough one. So sorry about your losses, and congrats on your pg!

I personally would go for an early scan - but then I did with both of mine and have not had mcs. I just don't think I could wait, and for me a pg doesn't feel 'real' until I've heard a hb (but that's just me!).

Good luck with whatever you decide.

I would go for an early scan - had a mmc before DS and this pg, and had early scans with both. The only way to keep my sanity. Best of luck.

Thanks all
A scan can be reassuring, I hope that I'm past the stage of needing repeat scans as the wait in between is horrendous. The not knowing and the waiting.
After all the mc's I feel that no news is good news so no signs of mc must be good. Then there is the other side, what if things havent grown if its another mmc.
This is our last try so part of me doesn;t want to know any bad news and wants to stay pregnant as long as possible.
