Hi Ladies,

We have our 20 week scan this week and wanted to check whether anyone has any advice for questions to ask at the 20 week scan? It's our first baby and just not sure what we should be asking at this scan.

THanks for advice in advance

Hiya

I had my 20 week scan 4 weeks ago and found out the sex of my baby (my first). Apart from asking that I just generally asked if it was growing at the normal rate etc and how long it was. You can ask anything you want I guess. I had some sweeties before I went in (advised to) and it worked... it really made it move more! was great to see It wouldnt keep still. Enjoy it and if u can ask for another Pic

Depends on how helpful and informative the sonographer is: with my 1st pg the 20 week scan was conducted mostly in silence and it was up to us to ask is everything ok? Is it all where it should be? This time we didn't need to ask anything as the sonographer was brilliant and commented on everything as he was going along.

Oh and if you want to know the sex you will probably have to ask, otherwise they won't volunteer the info!

Good luck.

If you hve any family history of abnormalities that might possibly be genetic - holes in hearts, cleft lips etc., you might want to get the sonographer to have a closer look at the particular area in question.

Ask if you can take home some photos.

Ask about 4D scans if you're interested.

Ask about the sex - although IMO it's nice not to know!
