Worried about Miscarring

I was very worried with my first that I would miscarry (but didnt) as I was told that my mother and sister miscarried and my half sister also miscarried one. Am I wrong to think the same will happen to me because it happened to them?
I ask because if I fall pregant again (which I am trying to) I know I will worry myself over this.

Sadly misscarriage is quite common and there will be someone in everyones family who has suffered it.

I don't think it will make your own risk any higher.

Everyone worries about it to some extent. Just do what you can, eat well, keep fit, take folic acid when you are ttc and cross your fingers.

I might mention it to my doctor, he's very good, I'm sure he can talk me through it.

hi, i agree with linli. one in five pregnancies ends in miscarriage. there's nothing you can really do to avoid being on the wrong side of that statistic. recurrent miscarriage is another issue altogether.unless you have a strong family history of repeated miscarriages then it's likely the losses your relatives experienced were just bad luck and are irrelevant to your case. all you can do is take your chances and see what happens. one early miscarriage is something many people experience and usually get over fairly quickly.

I know it's a horrible worry. I had one with my first pregnancy in march at 10.5 weeks and it was very upsetting. I am now nine weeks pregnant and of course the worry is there. However, I am trying to be positive and put things in perspective, my mum keeps on saying it's not the worst thing that could happen, a still birth or cot death would be much worse, or loosing a child.

It's so worrying, all this pregnancy lark!
After one DS, then 2 MCs, I almost couldnt let myself believe the next would be ok (I'm now 21weeks), so I know about the worry.
As previous posts said, if it's going to happen, it'll happen, so try not to dwell on it, as there's nothing you can do to cause/prevent it.
And no, theres no reason your risk is higher
