Sleeping propped up - how?

Lying on my side is killing my hips (even with a mattress topper and a duvet under me now!) so I'd like to start sleeping semi-upright.

However, bed wedges that I've seen only seem to come down to the shoulder blades and I assume for the whole not-trapping-vein thing I need to be reclining from my pelvis upwards. Plus I've not a huge amount of lung space atm so I don't want to bend in a way which makes that worse.

I therefore wondered what other people had found to work best for getting themselves in that position for sleeping?

This is the best 'propper up-per' I've found - www.johnlewis.com/10292/Style.aspx
I've recommended this so much it looks like I work for them - I don't, I promise! I use it as a sleep pillow and as a general 'recliner' for sofa lounging and semi-reclined napping. You can get the 'v' down in the small of your back so it supports you from the pelvis upwards.

I use a huge cushion I got from Ikea and put that on top of normal pillows so it forms a slope long enough for my back.

Thanks both. I'll try our biggest cushion tonight and order the JL v-cushion in the morning if that doesn't work!

I had the same problem and we have a Dunelm near us so I bought their V pillow, its less than a tenner and you can buy online here!

Use it all the time at night and also in the day time as a great propper-upper!

Well I tried being propped up last night, but woke at about 3am feeling v paranoid about not being on my side!

Hard to recall in hindsight if I was just uncomfortable or it actually felt wrong. I suspect the steep angle was partly to blame, combined with residual feelings about not lying on my back.

But either way I shuffled down the bed and curled up instead for the rest of the night!

So ... think I'll try one of these V pillows and see if something shallower is better!
