i am 22 weeks today and for the past couple of weeks i have woken up from sleeping on my side - doesnt matter if left or right - with really painful hips which i have to then try and put back together. they are fine in the day. it's only when i wake up. is this another one of those things that is normal and lots of pregnant people have but no-one ever knows about until they get pregnant? and any idea why and how i can stop it happening? it makes me even more grumpy in the morning

I have issues too, but then I'm hypermobile anyway. Physio really can help, as can swimming - but toning the pelvic floor and lower abdominal muscles, they can hold your hips in place better.

A cushion between the knees is also a must for me.

I'm hypermobile too and have same thing. I agree on the pillow between knees, but when I posted on this a few weeks ago I also got tips to sleep slightly tipped on to front, top knee bent and forward. This takes weight off lower hip. I have a long pillow so sort of lean on to it to support bump.
I also have two double duvets folded over under me, and DH has to puff them up once a week to keep them soft. This definitely gas helped for the time being, but I'm still only 28 weeks!

Good luck!
