Sleeping positions

So, I'm only 10 weeks at the mo so no bump as such yet but am expanding around the middle.

I had read that I'm not supposed to sleep on my back. Is that all the way through, or just later on when I will be much bigger?

Also, re sleeping on front, which I normally do, at the moment it's still comfy and is the way I normally sleep so is helpful in getting me to sleep quicker. Does anybody know if there is a time at which I should stop doing this, or is it just when I have a bump and it is uncomfortable for me? Not sure if there is a reason I should stop now, or if I can carry on until I am not comfy that way.

Any advice gratefully received. Also people who don't normally sleep on your side, I find it quite uncomfortable as I don't know what to do with me 'bottom' arm as it were, and feel a little like my heart and lungs are kind of constricted - that sounds a bit dramatic, I don't mean I can't breathe or anything, more that I just feel like when I want a big breath, I need to kind of wriggle and straighten out a bit.

Any advice for other ways to sleep on side would be very gratefully received!

The so called optimum position is on your left hand side I believe this is because there is a major blood vessel (don't know what it's called) that runs down the right hand side which as baby gets bigger it can constrict the blood flow and make you feel sick and dizzy.

Also, supposedly laying on your left helps baby get into optimal birth position (don't know how true this is).

I wouldn't worry just yet so long as you are comfortable.

I'm a side sleeper anyway but the right hand side I tend to tuck the 'bottom' arm up under my pillow if that helps.

Somebody with more technical knowledge will more than likely be along later.
