I have a ball I bought, I sat on it yesterday only for 10 minutes and spent the rest of the evening with back and hip pain, all I did was sit on it and watch tv!.

am I supposed to be doign something special with it - surely its not supposed to leave you felling like you lower half is abotu to explode? do I need to wait until I am further along (I am 37 weeks now) or shall i just give it to the kids to play with instead?

last time around i used to lean on it - so my belly was facing the ground, my boobs were on top of the ball if u get me? it helped a lot with taking the weight off my back, i would just chill out on there for a few minutes whilst having a chat with OH!

didnt get up to much else with it mind! but it was surprising how much it relieved the weight just by leaning on it the way i described, was so comfy!

I sat on mine to do the ironing, watch tv etc when the sofa became too uncomfortable but not for too long otherwise i would cease up.

try sitting on it and rocking your hips side to side and forwards and backwards.

stand against a wall with the ball in the small of your back and do small rolls to relieve backache or squat up and down to strengthen legs.

as YummyMummy said.

At the moment I am using the exercise balls at the gym for a lot of exercises and stretches. my instructor is gradually building a larger range of exercises in that should take me to term for the days when I have the energy to do them!

You may need to see a physio to learn about working on achiving neutral spine position and not extending your hips. It's easy to roll out of alignment on a ball if you don't know to stop it.
