Hi all,

DS is 16 months now and was delivered by emcs because of me failing to progress/possible foetal distress. I've just found out I'm expecting our second (I'm 4 weeks). Any top tips? I've not had any problems with the scar (although it is still very red).

Do I need to see a midwife earlier this time? I know I'll get referred to a consultant but I don't know if they need to see me earlier to get that process started? Is there anything else any of you pros would recommend?

Thanks!!

Don't think you need to see MW any earlier - my first consultant app was at 16 weeks ish, after 1st baby was CS.

You get far fewer MW appointments second time round, whether you had a CS last time or not. The only "extra" thing you will get are the consultant apps.

Only tip would be to do any research you need to on whether to have a VBAC or another CS. I'm more than happy to have a second CS but whatever your choice, you don't want to be pushed down one route or the other by a consultant who has a preference for either second CS or VBAC. I think you need to go armed with questions relevant to you to avoid being swept along with something you may not be happy with.

Thanks Lola, that's really useful. I've just started a new job so fewer appointments will probably go down quite well!
