Health in Pregnancy Grant - Payment timeframe?

Hi folks

How long is it taking for people to have their HIP paid out and when should I start to chase them? I've not had a confirmation letter or anything yet, but it has only just been 2 weeks since I sent it in, so am not too worried yet. Just wondered if there was an average timeframe at the moment!

Thanks!

I sent my form away on 28 june and the money appeared in my bank account a couple of days ago. Haven't had any letters or anything, the money was just there one day!

WorrisomeHeart · 13/07/2010 12:32

That's promising Ceebs as I sent mine on the 29th! Thanks for the response!

Got mine in about 7 working days after I sent it - confirmation letter arrived AFTER the money had gone in. This was about a week and a half ago.xx

seasister · 13/07/2010 14:54

Out of curiosity, when do you apply for it? It's on my list to deal with but not got round to it yet..

nunnie · 13/07/2010 14:55

You get the for after 25 weeks from your midwife.

YummyMummy1208 · 13/07/2010 15:18

is there a point where you lose the chance to apply for it as im not seeing midwife until 28 weeks and am worried theyl turn around and say its too late!

Hevster · 13/07/2010 15:23

YM the only 2 time frames are the fact that it's stopping next April and that you have to send it off within a certain number of days following the midwife signing it. I didn't pick mine up until late as they had run out!

nunnie · 13/07/2010 15:25

Not that I am aware of no. Just you can't get it before 25 weeks.

Didn't realise it was stopping must have missed that one.

vicki2006 · 16/07/2010 10:54

my midwife said yesterday that there stoppin it but still giving trhe forms out as they dont no when it is being stopped is april a definate and are they stopping the 500 surestart grant too?

Saartjie · 16/07/2010 10:57

The only time fram I am aware of is that you must apply for it within (I think) 31 days from the date that your midwife signs the form. She will sign it when she gives it to you so it shouldn't matter when you are given it so to speak as long as you apply within the 31 days.

louisesh · 16/07/2010 13:18

They are stopping the HIP grant from April 2011.I have just recieved mine it took 8 days from me posting the application form to being recieved in my bank account, very impressed with the lack of time it took.

Don t know anything about the surestart grant as i m not applicable for it [too wealthy as work!!!!!! HA HA}.

Hevster · 16/07/2010 13:34

The sure start grant is being amended to first child only. For the full details on all these things try googleing the June 2010 coalition government budget.

Rinnyx · 16/07/2010 14:43

Can you get your Dr to sign it for you?
I wont see my MW til 28 weeks so was going to just have a check up and talk to my Dr before then tho I will be 25week when I see him!

scgd · 16/07/2010 15:48

i got mine through 11 days after posting the form and that included 2 weekends! Like Chelle1986 i received a letter from the inland revenue saying i would be receiving the money- 2 and a half weeks AFTER the funds went into my account!

oldmum42 · 16/07/2010 16:07

Rinnyx, yes, the form says a your doctor or midwife can sign it - if you have been seeing them for preg related check-ups.

Honeybee79 · 16/07/2010 17:43

I got mine through in about 14 days but they do say it can take about 4 weeks. I called them just to ensure that they had received the application as didn't want to miss out!

ethelina · 16/07/2010 18:25

Mine took just over 3 weeks from date i sent it so dont worry!

lovechoc · 17/07/2010 12:57

I got my form signed when I was 34 weeks pregnant by the MW (filled out the rest of the form and then posted it the same day)and money arrived in bank account a few weeks later. That was last month.

WorrisomeHeart · 17/07/2010 19:27

Hmm mine still hasn't arrived - am slightly worried as I was actually 24+6 at my '25 week' check with the m/w when she signed the form - do you think they check that closely? I should have got her to date it for the next day!

Rafwife · 21/07/2010 09:24

Did you get your grant in the end?

WorrisomeHeart · 21/07/2010 12:31

Nope still not arrived, so I'm going to call next week when it's been a month. Very annoying!

saoirse86 · 22/07/2010 11:35

I got a letter 12 days after posting it and the money's already in my account.

Rafwife · 22/07/2010 13:44

I'd phone up and ask, I was curious as like you my DR signed the form at 24+6 to save me having to wait or make another appt, just being sensible.

I then gooled and found any forms signed even a day early were being refused at one point. Well I just phoned up to check mine, and my award will be in my bank in 4 days it has been awarded and I posted last Weds when I was 25 weeks, dr signed the day before at 24 +6.

WorrisomeHeart · 22/07/2010 15:44

Yep rang this morning and apparently it's in the system and 'pending'. The helpline said that there was nothing showing that it was being disputed so if nothing's hit my account by next week I should call back to chase.

Rafwife - thanks for the reassurance re the date signed!
