Hi all
I'm just five weeks and a bit, this is my first pregnancy and I have been spotting for a few days now with a bit of bleeding and some very small clots. Mild cramps but they have gone now.

Did anyone experience anything similar?
Am seeing midwife tomorrow....

Have had my feet up for three days but will need to go back to work this week ....

how common is this - all help appreciated

??

I spotted at around the same stage as you in my first pregnancy too, but phoned the MW and also went along to EPU to get checked over, got an early scan to reassure me as I thought I was miscarrying (which is NOT always the case when you spot, but occasionally it is).

Good luck - fingers crossed that everything is ok.

Thanks lovechoc, it's easy to go a bit mad in the first few weeks I guess. Appreciate your kind thoughts

things turned out well with my first pregnancy - he's a healthy 3yo now

With my second pregnancy I had spotting with the cramping and it didn't turn out well - I had a 'blighted ovum' and so I lost the pregnancy a few days before the 12 week scan that had been booked for me (the sac had developed but there was no embryo). The MW phoned the EPU straightaway and got me booked in the following morning for a scan to confirm the bad news - very difficult time. I'm not implying you are going through the same thing, but if I was in your situation just now I'd definately get in touch with a MW and ask her advice. It will put your mind at ease. You need reassurance from a professional in a time like this.

When I started bleeding at six weeks with cramping I did another pg test and the line was much fainter than the first test. So I knew the hcg must be going down and therefore I was miscarrying. Probably not very scientific but it helped me in that at least I knew what was happening.

But many, many friends I know have had bleeding early on and it's been fine. If it has stopped now and didn't feel like a proper period then that's a really good sign. A friend just had five days of heavy bleeding at five weeks and was scanned at six to find she was still pg. But all this is anecdotal. Definitely phone your midwife and get some professional reassurance.

Fingers crossed for you.
