My son asks to pooh in potty but nothing happens...

My son is 22 months. He now knows when he wants to poo. He will say "pooh" and ask for "potty". We sit him on the potty and wait. After a while he gets fed up and says "finished". There has never been a pooh in the potty, but minutes after putting a clean nappy... there's the pooh!. Any advice would be gratefully received as I do not want to discourage my son

Try printing out and reading the Poo Goes Home to Pooland book with him - it worked miracles with my son! We had months of him not being able to poo on the potty, but he started the day after we'd looked at that book together.
