My DD is 2.5 and I have been sitting her on the toilet and potty for several months getting her used to it with no success.

We went out and chose some pants and yesterday was day 1 of potty training and so far and it been really hard going. We had lots of wet pants and trousers but by the afternoon we were starting to get a few small wees in the potty rewarded with chocolate.

This morning she held in a wee for hours whilst me and DH kept putting her on the toilet or potty. She asked to be put on every few minutes but was then desperate to get off. She can't seem to wee on the toilet or potty.

I was already to give up and go back to nappies as she was getting distressed but now she loves her 'big girl pants' and won't wear a nappy.

I'm back at work on Tuesday and don't know whether to put her back in nappies for nursery and just try in a few months time. I'm 20 weeks pregnant and feeling tired and emotional and unable to cope with this.

Can someone tell me to pull myself together? Any tips for a child who seems to freeze on the toilet or potty despite asking to be put on?
