DS just wants to use the toilet

Had a breakthrough with 'potty' training when we realised DS would rather use the toilet. He climbed onto the big toilet yesterday, and today I went out and got one of those adaptor things. When he saw it today he said "This off" and needed it taking off before he used it. It's OK for ours as he can climb on, but will he need one for other toilets? If so, what would you recommend?
(Mine's a boots one which doubles as a travel potty, but I think if I do get one I'll just use the boots one as a travel potty and leave the other permanently on the toilet. That is if he'll use a travel potty!!)

Is it just for a wee, get him to stand.

ds2 only uses the loo as he didn't like the potty. I held him up when we were out and he can just about reach now.

How high is your loo, lol.
Ds used to just dangle/bend his willy over the edge when he started out. He would never use a potty, hated them.
Get him a little step.

C will sit on the toilet with the adaptor thing on (its blue piece of plastic - tesco I think), or without - just hold him and make sure trousers are well down to let willy point into toilet.

If he hasnt got trousers on (at home) he can kinda straddle the toilet, sitting on it, holding onto the sides.

Neither DS not DD liked the potty, went straight from nappies onto loo.

We got one of the wee steps from Ikea and he sat to begin with. Did not want the adaptor thingy either, and he never fell in.

Much easier as he will just go on a normal loo when you are out. No need to schlep a travel potty with you.

OK so no adaptor
He seems tiny - that is what he does, climbs on & straddles the loo, holding on to the seat, but sometimes when getting off i worry he'll fall in! Also not sure I'd want him climbing all over a public toilet but he probably wouldn't let me lift him on [PFB]
louii, didn't thin k it was high but it's definitely above willy height
