Not quite sure how we've arrived at this point but she refuses to have anything to do with the loo or the potty and actually demands to have her nappy on. Think dh might have got a bit cross with her at some point, and nanny & grandad do keep on about how she's a big girl and shouldn't be wearing nappies, which I think must have led to a bit of anxiety or something. Whenever we've caught her in the act of obviously sneaking off to have a quiet poo we've got her to go on the toilet and praised her and given her a sweetie, etc (she did at one point think all she had to do was sit on the loo and sweeties would be forthcoming).

Do I wait it out or is there a remedy? She starts pre-school in a few weeks and they have said they're happy to change her nappy but from what I can gather she'll be the only child in the class in a nappy. It might be the incentive she needs or it might upset her, I don't know.

Does she have a trainer seat to go on the toilet seat so she feels secure? Also, and I know it's a faff, but what about special toilet paper (eg Xmas or fairies) and even her own liquid soap dispenser, like the Palmolive under-the-sea one? And then sit down whilst she's on the loo and have a chat - dd used to love that time! We also used to 'phone up the GPs if dcs managed to go to the toilet and sing their praises in visible ear shot.
