Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Of course it's not too early. All 3 of my DC were out of nappies by 2 years old.

@caringcarerlucky lol

Definitely not. My son is 2 years 10 months and was fully potty trained by 24 months. In our circle of friends with the same age children and his nursery room all are potty trained, so it's pretty late in my experience? At our 2 year review (27 months) the HV talked as if potty training being complete was expected.

@MDDRI have tried multiple times but stuff just kept on getting in the way and we've been really busy with like getting her OT and eating classes for her ARFID so really it's just being busy and my boyfriend finally decided to take some time off work to finally get this over and done with he got the next two weeks off

Some children with autism have issues with Proprioception which can mean that they aren’t as aware of needing the toilet. We tried over and over again with my son but he wasn’t trained until five and a half. But from that point on he was dry day and night. If she’s not ready she’s not ready. Autism can often delay things unfortunately.

newmommy2006yay · 24/09/2026 22:36

@Hilbil212001i will give her a week if we are in the same way I will give up for now

Even late arguably, it should be the right time…

Melancholyflower · 24/09/2026 22:42

My child with autism wasn't out of nappies until they were 9, but my other child was dry day and night by 2 1/2. Some children with autism will toilet train as easily as other children, but for some it will be delayed.
I'm surprised by all the people saying their children were potty trained by 2. That would have been considered early when mine were toddlers, over 20 years ago, and I have previously got the impression on here that the tendency these days was to leave toilet training until later.

YourWildAmberSloth · 24/09/2026 22:44

It's not late, and even if it was, you are where you are. DS trained late, he was already 3 but just wasn't ready before that. We tried several times from 2,5 and failed miserably. HV said to just wait a bit longer until he had an awareness of needing to go. As soon as that happened, he was dry in 2 days and only had 2 accidents in that time - one was my fault because I'd locked the babygate. We bypassed potties altogether and he was straight on the toilet.

newmommy2006yay · 24/09/2026 22:47

@Melancholyfloweri am worried about that lol if she needs them I will give them to her so I will see

Technically I would say he had only one if the other one was out of his control @YourWildAmberSloth

One of mine trained at just 2, the other nearly 4. The later one is autistic and has sensory difficulties but they still managed it.

newmommy2006yay · 26/09/2026 16:03

Was it hard to train the 4 yo?@BrainSoup

Don't go by everyone else. Mine were two, but exMIL told me exdp was potty trained at 9 months and she considered ds to be very late 😂😂😂. I had friends who had dc the same age and some were 3 1/2 before they were trained. It's just a number. Go by when they are ready. We used to have stories on the potty, and aiming at ping pong balls in the toilet to train dc (can't do that with a girl!). If she's not ready leave it, and try again at a later date. Don't be disheartened.

@justagirlwithabrokenbrain76tbh
I have just about given up

Potty trained mine at 3 also has autism. It took two to three weeks. DS1 took 3 days (no autism) I wouldn’t give up just yet but if no progress in two more weeks leave it a month or two then try again:

@SoThatsTheWayItIsOK:) thanks 😊 I just worry for the floor

Might be an idea to post this also in the boards for additional needs as a lot of the answers here are regarding neurotypical children.

newmommy2006yay · 26/09/2026 17:07

There's a broad for that? @Hilbil212001

newmommy2006yay · 26/09/2026 17:37

Yep look for the category “special needs”

Ileithyia · 26/09/2026 18:56

I had both my children out of nappies by the time they were two, so no, almost 3 is not too soon!
