Is it normal to still have accidents after a week? Slow but steady progress?

So we’ve been potty training for a week now and although we have made progress are still having accidents and often needs prompting. I have read so many stories of the 3 day training and how if they don’t get it quickly they are not ready but I don’t really want to go back to pull-ups/nappies as I feel this would confuse him and would lose all the progress.
Interested to know if anyone has success after slow but steady progress?

This is our progress so far:
Day 1 - at home all day some accidents but made it to potty to finish, all prompted by me
Day 2 - 3 accidents, 1 poo 2 wee (poo and wee whilst at nursery for 2hrs)
Day 3 - out most of the day, started being able to wee when prompted. 1 wet accident
Day 4 - all day at nursery, 0 wet accidents 1 poo accident, prompted to go to potty every 1.5 hrs successfully
Day 5 - all day at nursery, disaster, 7 accident (4 poos, 3 wees) only couple of wees on potty
Day 6 - went to families house, refusing/reluctant to go on potty. 3 accident (2 wee, 1 poo)
Day 7 - back to basics naked from waist down at home all day, 2 accidents, 1 wee 1 poo (finished both in the potty unprompted). Has been without prompting, first successful poo unprompted, got him to sit on potty every 2 hrs if not already took himself

Totally normal. It’s still very early days. Not wanting to use the potty in unfamiliar surroundings is also totally normal. Accidents are to be expected ime

@OnceYoureToastYouCanNeverBeBread Thank you for the reassurance, I have been getting a lot of comments about him not being ready if still having accidents and not saying when he needs a wee (will take himself but only at home with nothing on atm).

I'm a childminder and previously a nursery nurse and have seen literally 100s of children potty train, and believe me the vast, vast majority are still having accidents after a week.

The Mumsnet 'wait til they're 3 and they will get it in 3 days with no accidents' is very unusual in my experience!

We are in similar situation. I hate this bit of parenting!

Absolutely normal in my experience as a mom of 3 .

I started potty training my youngest in August. This week little one has had a wee accident every day. Yep, 9 months later....I like to believe it's normal.

My eldest was a lot, lot quicker!
