Hi so my little girl is 4 years old she has been potty trained for about 3 weeks now. (She has a developmental delay so she is more like 2 1/2- 3 year old)
and has been doing great, very few wee accidents.
however we are really really struggling with pooping. She absolutely refuses to poop in the toilet or potty.
we look out for her pooping signs, and we ask her to go to the toilet or potty but she completely refuses! We get a very ferm ‘no’ she also get quite upset about it. But then poop’s in her knickers. It dosnt even seam to bother her very much that it’s there.
I clean her up as soon as we notice (she didn’t always tell us).
I have no idea how to tackle this.. I have looked at books and the Eric website but not of it is working for her.
she will start school in September and I just don’t know what to do.

Delay her starting school and start looking at a EHCP. What does nursery say?

Really common for them to master wees before poos.

Introduce a poo routine eg sitting on the toilet/potty after breakfast and/or dinner every day
Read poo goes to pooland
Bribes or prizes for poos

Don't panic yet, you have 3 months before poo. It may take a few weeks but she will get there.

She already had a ECHP in the pip line (we are just waiting for the draft to come through). Nursery are just saying what everyone else id saying, ‘it’s normal and she will get there’,
they are great with her tbh, they have helped me get the ECHP so I can’t complain at them at all.

@TheCyanHedgehog Has anyone suggested delayed start at school? What does the EGCP say regarding next phase? Maybe talk to the school?
