Toilet training advice for non-verbal 3 year old?

My son is 3 and non verbal, he has just started to wear pants throughout the day. He is yet to pee or poo in the toilet. At nursery his teacher is taking him regularly and he sits ok on the toilet there for a 10 second countdown. At home he is just screaming and refusing to sit on the toilet unless he chooses to go himself. Has anyone got any tips on getting him to sit on the toilet? we have one of the cheap little seats and stools but was thinking maybe there is something better we could get if anyone has any recommendations? as his feet aren’t completely flat on the stool when sitting. The last 2 days at nursery he has been dry all day and hasn’t done anything when sitting on the toilet so I’m thinking he is holding in. Any advice would be appreciated thanks

He sounds very young maybe?we got a child size seat that attaches to the toilet, like no different from the normal version, just smaller.eric website was useful.

He's not ready, OP. Withholding all day is a recipe for disaster. Put him back in nappies for now, and continue to deaensitize to toilet sits/potties depending on yours and his preference. He will absolutely need to get his feet flat to feel comfortable, but if he's that upset by even sitting on the toilet you're not going to get anywhere. Follow his lead, let him do it when he wants to and don't force it when he doesn't. I say that as a parent of a nearly 4 year old who still isn't remotely ready, but is definitely much closer than he was when he turned 3!

He is 3 years 8months old nearly, I will have a look at the ERIC website thanks. I need something that has some sort of step to the toilet as the hv said his feet need to be sitting flat not dangling

I am not 100% sure he is as much as I want him to be but his nursery teachers and hv are pushing it… he knows exactly what to do when sitting on the toilet as he goes and sits on it himself quite happily randomly at times knows to wipe flush and wash hands (he does this even though he hasn’t done the toilet) although he is non verbal he has a great understanding knows what you are saying to him majority of the time. I had been trying to get him to wear pants but he would kick off and refuse every time I tried so the nursery tried there and for some reason was fine there and now lets me put pants on him too since they done it. Now it’s the battle of getting him to come and sit on the toilet. I have not long put a pull up on him for bed and can see he is trying to poo now in his pull up
