Dry at nursery but crying for nappy at home

Hi,

My daughter is 3, she’s been ready for potty training for some time, but she had a big accident once and slipped in it and it really upset her. So we’ve tried intermittently and she’s always become really upset.

Shes now completely dry at nursery and goes in wearing pants and comes home in them. However, the problem is that she cries demanding a nappy at home. We’ve tried to wait it out and say ‘nappies are only for bedtime now’ but she gets more and more distressed and I’m worried about causing more issues by leaving her distressed.

We’ve tried a reward chart, and trying to recreate the structure the nursery uses but to no avail. We’ve let her pick her own toilet seat and ladder (she also has a potty that looks like a toilet). Does anyone have a similar experience or any ideas?
