So my toddler DS is 2yrs 4 months and has been potty training for a couple of weeks. First weekend was chaotic but positive and I feel he’s really cracking it! My issue is when he is at nursery.
He has no accidents at home, can tell me he needs a wee or a poo and goes by himself. We’ve had three full days in a row not one accident and plenty of potty success plus every evening too. Occasionally he will get a bit distressed if he needs help with his trousers or if he can feel he needs to go but if I prompt and leave him to it we are successful. No accidents (so far) when out and about or in the car and has been pretty chilled throughout.
Nursery encouraged us to start with the training and have been mostly positive until today. He has had plenty of accidents and also sometimes will hold the wee even though it’s obvious he’s ready to go - it seems to be one extreme or the other!
Now I’m not expecting him to crack it so fast at nursery as they are busy and he is distracted. However today they have said to me him holding his wee is a concern and maybe we should go back to nappies. They don’t mind the accidents but it seems to be the holding that’s an issue - even though I’m confused how it is a holding problem considering some days there are plenty of accidents and some wees in the potty.
Nursery seek to be encouraging him to try lots and are great with him but I’m very reluctant to go back to nappies when I know he’s doing so well at home.
has anyone experienced this or can offer any tips with bridging this gap between home and nursery? Thanks!
