Hi all. We started potty training a week before my girl turned 2. She was showing the signs to be ready and picked up weeing on her potty really quickly with few accidents. She can’t however get the hang of going for a poop on the potty, instead just doing it in her pants! The first few days happy free she wouldn’t go at all, so I’m at least relieved she’s going but she just isn’t getting to grips with going to the potty for one. Anyone had a similar experience and any tips to share ?? My childminder has mentioned going back to nappies but I don’t want to do this as we’ve come this far now and I don’t want to confuse her!

My DD did this, we had quite a few poo accidents for about the first 3-4 months. The second I could tell she was going for a poo I would grab her and pop her on the potty, we then did chocolate coin as a reward when she did it and it slowly worked!

Just keep it very low stress. If she wants to poo in a nappy, let her put one on and do it. Get a small toilet seat to try wees on the real toilet and ask if she'd like to try a poo in there for a chocolate button when she wants to do one. Ask daily, but with no stress if she picks nappy. Just don't stress it. It will work itself out.
