Where do I go now with training- don't want to put DS off

I started potty training today. My DS is 2 and he has been amazing.

I was advised to go straight into pants which was a disaster! We went through 4 pairs of pants in about 2 hours with accidents.

However I left him naked on the bottom and he's not had an accident all day. He's been taking himself to the potty and doing pees and poos. He was even in the bath and asked to come out to do a pee. I just held him over the toilet and he did it fine.

Where do I go now? I don't want to set him back. Do I still do naked tomorrow but try only toilet and no potty? Or do I continue with potty to build confidence?

When do I introduce pants?

I've read you should do trousers and no pants initially.

I did a week at home with no pants and trousers. Some days were better than others. Especially as the novelty wore off.
It was also summer so he could be outside.
Potty isn’t an essential. If you go straight to toilet that’s ok too. My tip for boys is when out and about have a bottle. They can just wee into it and then pour it down a drain- they think it is fun too!
2 is young but doable depending on the child. Just see how it goes. With one DC we had to go back to pull ups. It’s not a failure, deal with it very neutrally, then leave a month or so and try again x

Thanks @Swimswam. A few people have mentioned the bottle idea for boys- I'll have to give it a go.

No I'm totally in no rush to do it. I just thought I'd give it a go and see how it went. He's amazed me today how well he has done.

I'll maybe do another day at home naked and see how it goes

I’d read the oh crap potty training book. You can get it on the kindle app.

@User837463839 yeh I've not read the book but taken bits from it from others who have read it so trying to follow it loosely
