My DS is 2 next week, we have started potty training as he was telling us when he was going to the toilet and then taking his nappies off.

He has got the potty training in the house, he either tells us he is going or will just go sit on the potty. But he hates being told
to sit on the potty and protests if you ask as he obviously knows he doesn’t need it. He does the little dance when he needs a wee so it’s easy to see and give a bit of encouragement but so far we have been very unsuccessful when wearing any pants except just loose PJ bottoms.

Is it just time and practice? Do I just ignore any accidents and clean him up?

I'd take a portable potty and keep an eye on him but yea, any accidents just clean him up and continue Wink

Potty before you leave the house and then keep to the same routine when you are out and try not to stay out too long. Have you tried potty training pants (the pull up kind) and this might help with the transition. It is just time really and boys (from my group of mums) tend to be slower at getting the hang of it than girls. 2 and a half is pretty average for them to be totally toilet trained so you are doing well.

Our experience was completely different. DS got it much, much earlier than DD.

Thanks for your replies, @PritiPatelsMaker @Pr1mr0se we did a short trip to the sales today and he used a portable potty whilst out with no accidents. But had a little accident when in the high chair for lunch, too engrossed in his food so was a little late to ask us to get him out. I think it’s going fine just keep second guessing myself because he is still quite young.
