My son theblast few weeks has started telling me he needs a wee/poo and he always wants to take him nappy of for a poo.

When I underdressed him for his bath most nights, he then crutches down wees as points so je knows exactly what he's doing

I've been having him run around naked as it's easier. He told me he wanted a poo this morning but he just won't sit on the potty , I've tried offering him a snack to sit down down, putting him in front of TV, bathroom, watching YouTube videos on how to use potty but he refuses to sit on It so he ends up going on the floor! Obviously I don't want to tell him of for doing this as I don't want to make him stop going

When he's been naked he's only done 1 wee on floor and none on Potty , so I'm thinking he's holding it in until I put his nappy back on for naps etc

How can I get him to do a poo/ wee on potty ?

When my mum had him a few weeks ago when I was at work he manged to do 2 poos on potty and was very proud of himself! So he does know how to do it

First time mum so I'm all new to this !! And advice much appreciated!

Thank you

I bribed mine onto the potty. They’d get some gummy sweets if they sat on the potty and produced the goods.

I've tried this with white chocolate buttons but he wasn't having any of it!! I even tried giving him half s button to sit down on it (which he did for a few seconds) then got straight back of it

Have you tried him on the toilet? My nephew would only ever go on the 'real toilet' as he called it? X

I think most people recommend the 'oh crap' book.

Having potty trained a child for over a year with lots of accidents because we were pushed into it too early I'd suggest waiting as long as possible!

It sounds like he doesn’t want to rather than has a fear or dislike of it? Would he use the toilet instead? Until he will sit down the nappy stays on. He understands what’s happening and wants the nappy off but if he won’t sit on the potty even with bribing/reward then I would say to him he can’t have the nappy off. If he wants it off he has to go on the potty, simple as. Have you tried sitting on it when he doesn’t need to go?

I've tried sitting him on it just generally when he doesn't need to do , and he will sit there for a few minutes, playing with a toy/ watching the TV.

I've tried the toilet but he's rather slim and it's to big for him! I've got a toilet seat so that will be my plan to try tomorrow !

Think my next step will be the toilet tomorrow with his toilet seat!

We bought seats for our toilets that have a child seat as well as an adult one. Very useful.

The turning point for DS1 though was teaching him to pee standing up. From that day on he had it cracked!

I think I may also purchase a little step to help my little one on the toilet as it's quite high!! Knowing my little boy I think he would quote enjoy weeing standing up in the toilet!
