I can’t get my son to poo in the toilet when he is wearing pants

My son is 4 and he goes takes himself off for a wee, he will take himself off for a poo when he hasn’t got pants on. But the moment you put pants on he just stops even attempting to go on the toilet.
You will see him trying him upmost to hold his poo in when he is wearing pants.

A large part of me thinks it laziness, because I know he can do it and if we let him run around naked at home he will take himself off to the toilet and poo.

I have tried everything I can think of. I have tried sticker charts, I have tried giving him the phone, toys and book, I have brought him a new toilet seat incase he didn’t like the other one. I have even tried being stern with him and asking why he doesn’t do it on the toilet.

IM AT MY WITS END! Sometimes I break down and cry because I just don’t know where we are going wrong or what I need to do.

He starts school in September and I’m worried he will be the known as the kids that still pooed in his pants. (Also our last name is Brown, so I’m sure you can imagine the names)
I have spoken to my health visitor and they gave me a load of information which I’m greatly for, but it’s all stuff we have done before and was aimed more at children who are just starting out.

Anyone else had this? What did you do?

Thanks
