Has anyone got a DD who wees forwards (ie. Not in the toilet)??

DD has done fantastically potty training and we now have no issues, except that, when she wees, it always, always comes straight out the front of the toilet. Bless her, she opens her legs up really wide and leans right over (her body is almost parallel to the ground), but we always end up with wee on the floor, and often her clothes, if round her ankles.

I cannot work out how to fix this issue. It was never a problem with my older DD, nor can I quite understand HOW she is achieving this angle, but I'm getting fed up of cleaning wee off the toilet and floor every time she goes to the loo. She gets quite upset when her clothes are wet, too.

Has anyone else had this problem? How did you solve it? Help!

We have it all the time, doesn't seem to be an issue at preschool so I'm not sure why she does it. No helpful advice as nothing I've tried seems to help and she gets really angry if I try to help by getting her to tilt her pelvis forward, so we just ignore it in the hope she will figure it out soon.

I'd forgotten about that, my DD must have just grown out of it or learned how to angle herself. Used to spurt right out the front

Can I ask how old she was when she grew out of it? DD has potty trained pretty young (turned 2 last weekend) and I'm dreading having to deal with this for years and years

My daughter, at15 months, watched her brother (2) using the potty and would only stand up to wee. I wish she had wee'd forward LOL

As a little baby DD2 used to pee straight up in the air (like a boy) when being changed. Just figured it was due to her chubbiness.

I was just going to say Dd does the same but then I remembered that she hasn't done it for a while so I think she must have grown out of it by 3.

Yes we had that problem when she first started. She's 3.5 now and it's not an issue anymore.

I miss the loo a bit when I wee so I have to put paper down when I go and after I catch the last drops on tiolet roll

I've had this. I found it was a lot better when we stopped using the little toilet seat that makes them quite high up and just put them on the big seat so they were slightly lower. I think it took a month or so to master the correct angle!

Try getting her to close her legs together more when she's sat on the loo/potty @Spanneroo. If she has her legs wide apart then the wee does go everywhere ime

So basically she should sit the same as she would do in a chair. Legs together or only slightly apart. Sit up straight.

Both my boys have issues with aiming into the potty so we get them to sit on them back to front!! Works a treat and may work for your dd

Knees together solves this issue. Although then you have the balance issue and making sure she doesn’t face-plant the bathroom floor...

Wow, thanks for the suggestions! We don't use one of the toddler toilet add-ons as she has flatly refused throughout to do anything her big sister wouldn't - she refused the potty for the same reason, which is a shame as it has that lip at the front which would help 'catch' the wee as it went forward!

We've tried having her sit up straight like a chair and it's much worse like that - comes right out over her thighs!

I'll try encouraging her to keep her legs together more. She is pretty petite, so I'm hoping she doesn't find it too wobbly!

I wonder if it’s an age thing - my ds2 self potty trained at about 20m, way earlier than I was ready for. The first 9-12m of this was a nightmare as he was so little. We had lots of we all over the place which changed as he got bigger. I have to say, potty was better for him for quite a while.

The cleaner at our school told me it is quite a problem with girls in reception. 😬

DD did this when first learning to use the loo, it would come out between the loo and the seat! She has grown out of it, can't remember when but it didn't happen for long.
