First week of potty training, not a single poo in potty/loo, should I give up?!?

My daughter is nearly 3 and we just started potty training, day 4 today. We seem to have nailed the pees, dry pants every day, though she does drink very little (but that's another story!) and she isn't asking to go, I'm just taking her every 30mins-1 hour......so maybe "nailed" isn't exactly right!😂

On the poo front, it's another story. I've basically not let her out my sight, following her around looking for tell tale signs of poo coming but she's managed to do it in her pants every day, and still not got her to do it in the toilet or potty. And while I'm on my hands and knees cleaning up poo, she's getting excited and asking for her sticker and treat for going!

Does this suggest she's not ready and we should give up for now? Anyone any tips on how to deal with the poo problem?

At least he's giving you helpful cues Sweet potato!!! Potty training is full on as you can't let them out your sight! I've not spent any time away from my daughter in 10 days.....apart from sleeping! And even then she doesn't sleep through! 😃

Well that's what i get for being smug, collected him from nursery he was wearing a borrowed outfit and was handed 3 soaking wet outfits. Think we'll take today as a potty training fail!

Yesterday we had another poo in the potty. Lest I got any way smug, today she decided not to use the potty at all!!!!!! Then vehemently denied her pull up needed to be changed. It is so bloody frustrating!!!

Patience and an air of not caring is currently my tactic, and I think cause I was so enthusiastic at the beginning he's a little confused so maintaining is focus to try and regain my enthusiasm.
It's horrendous though, he was screaming yesterday don't touch me mummy I am doing a poo, just leave me alone. Where do they learn such behaviour?

Oh I'm frequently shouted at to 'close the bathroom door' i.e. with me on the outside! I know she is not using the loo, but instead is on the other side of the door washing small toys in an overflowing sink while squirting the entire contents of the soap bottle on top of them. I am tempted to go back to using bars of soap but I don't like them when they are half used and lose their creaminess and the colour changes.

GlummyMummy · 22/04/2017 19:31

Oh well at least the toys will be clean! 😂

It's funny how they want privacy but yet when it's you needing the toilet they're right in there with you, usually trying to unlock the door from the inside and expose you to the public!!!!

I hope I'm not speaking too soon but I think we've turned a corner with the potty training. Hope it lasts! Now to tackle her bad behaviour....but that's another story!
