Some advice pls, day 3 of trying with nearly 3yo

Hi there, just wanted a bit of advice/moral support (!)......My daughter will be 3 in March, have tried sporadically over the summer etc with training, leaving nappy off and potty around the house etc but to not much avail. Since after Xmas I've got over a week off of work and she's off of pre-school so I thought I'd get going properly. We 'threw' the nappies in bin and have 'big girl' knickers etc. 3 days in and have had all accidents. She's only been wee twice a day because been holding it for so long as she knows. I can get her on toilet and potty (with some chocolate bribery etc) but when it actually comes to needing to go, when she's jumping around like a jack in the box and holding her bits, she goes mad if I try to sit her on it, almost like she's afraid. She only tells me she needs to go once it's too late! I know it will happen eventually but should I just perceiver, we need to go out today so I'm just taking lots of changes of clothes/knickers. I really don't want to go back to the nappies just because we have to go out etc.....Any advice would be great !

Stick with it, there are some positive signs in your post. She has control of her bladder because she can hold on. I think she is trying to get the upper hand. She's picked up its important to you for her to use the toilet/potty so she is refusing.

Suggest she try for the toilet before/after meals, before you go out. Don't physical force her to sit. I wouldn't use chocolate bribery because you'll have to stop it at some time, I never did it but I know others will say they had great success using that method.

If you still use a buggy put a pampers can't remember what are called thing like a puppy training pad on the seat - saves your buggy from wee and your DD from sitting in it.

im doing the same my son will be three in a week he can hold his wee for hours im buying some reusable training pants for when he goes out and to nursery he is happy to sit on his potty till he actually needs to go to the toilet then he flips out and runs around dripping everywhere

when this is over im getting my carpet professionally cleaned

Went out today and have had various accidents (wee and poo ) but she's not even telling me when it's happening at the moment, not sure if she's scared to etc, I obviously wouldn't tell her off anyway. Had a wee and car and didn't say and had poo in knickers and I just knew from smell! Am really keen to keep going with it though, really hoping something will click soon! . But just worried she's not ready as I'm not seeing anything positive yet, but I guess it's early days

Hope you don't mind me joining. Wanted to offer (and hopefully get!) some morale support. We have taken the plunge with DD1 today. She'll be 3 at the end of January and has shown no interest in telling us when she needs to go or has gone to the toilet when wearing nappies. DH is off this week so we decided to just see what happens .

Got her in the reusable padded pants. Two accidents so far, plus one wee in the toilet and one in the potty. We just keep asking if she needs to go every 15 minutes and actually sitting her on the toilet/potty every 30-45 minutes. Lots of CBeebies being watched!

Same boat here. DD will be 3 next week and we've tried potty training on and off. Don't know if that's the best way either really. She's just not getting it yet. Won't say when she needs to go and she'll sit or stand in it until I happen to notice the puddle.

But she's showing the odd positive sign. Like often if I've left her without a nappy she'll come up to me at some point and request a nappy (she'll say "changey nappy?"). Not as good as requesting the potty but hopefully it's a step in the right direction. Today she's decided she'd like to wear knickers so I'm going with it. We're on our forth pair now! And as I've been writing this she has peed again!

I'm starting again today as half term. I gave up after last time I started this thread. T'was a nightmare....holding it in until the point of screaming and refusing to sit on etc. To be honest she's not showing any signs of being ready even now either, but I'm getting worried! Feel like I'm being a bit judged when I Say she's not clean yet seeing as she's 3 next month. Wish me luck.....!
