We are on day 7 of potty training DS (2.10) and I don't know whether to carry on or not! He is fine at using the potty or toilet when prompted but does really not understand the urge to wee so doesn't tell me and just had an accident (this morning all over the rocking horse!).

Does this understanding kick in at some point? Do I persevere or stop and start again another time?? He is so keen to be in big boy pants but I can't see how we are progressing after a week.

Grin @ daisy and Sat. They were £8 too! Massive ripoff. Still, DD thinks they are beautiful and prob already saved twice that in nappy costs.

I'd give the no pants a try, especially if you can go in the garden. We did that in the summer. I wonder if it's the feeling the wee going down their leg straight away too..

He's not ready. Back to nappies for 6 weeks at try again. Potty training is not worth an ounce of stress.

We've been nappy free for about 5/6 weeks now and it did take my daughter a while before she would tell me she needed to go. I think sometimes they just need to get used to paying attention to their bodies. No thought needed when in nappies so it's a big change for them.
We stuck it out with pants and just prompted/ took her to the toilet or potty and eventually she started taking herself or telling us. We didn't have to deal with too many accidents and she wasn't upset about it (few toddler shouts but then she shouts about most things at some point as she's 2 and slightly unreasonable. Wink ) If she had been upset I would have left it and tried again another time.
I thought about going nappy free at home but then pants nights just confuse them when out and about?

We had a whole week of no accidents last week (then I made mistake of putting her in pull ups for day out at farm park and we had 5 accidents the next day Confused )
They're all different though and if it's not working for you and your son then back in nappy for few weeks will not harm him. Biggest thing I've learned is it's almost as much about training us as them. I still forget that she needs to use toilet regularly when out and about as was so used to nappies and it's hard to stay calm some days.
