what do you do if you can't stay home?

DD is 2y 3m, decided she doesn't like nappies any more and is quite vocal about it too! Will use the potty with encouragement, but she's stopping the wee, getting up to look and sitting down to do a bit more, bless her its cute but I'm worried she'll give herself an infection or something.

Staying home and naked is not an option this week, school runs at the very least and I've got lots of errands/shopping to finish plus I don't need a ton of extra washing right now and car seats/sofas to clean etc. But I don't want to discourage her if she's trying, so what do I do - nappy for in the car? She usually sleeps on the afternoon school run so a nappy is fine for then I guess

There's no way she can manage pants/trousers, heaven knows what she'll do when she needs a poo. I've done this twice before but feel like a total novice now, she's way earlier than my other two, DS was 2y9m and DD1 was 3y 2m - we just took their nappy off one day, suggested they use potty/toilet for wee, and they were just ready, straight away with no accidents

Even if she gets it straight away, surely Christmas is going to be so exciting it will go a bit wrong, no?

(pull ups not really an option this week, I've got over 100 nappies in the cupboard and replacing them with pull ups now means someone goes without a Christmas gift lol)

DD made the same decision at a similar age. We put a towel on the car seat and took a portable potty out with us but, actually, she only had two accidents and one of them was at home (until DS came along and she went through a regression, but that's another story...).

Five months later, she still has pull-ups at bedtime and nap times, although she is starting to not want to use them. We call them 'sleep pants'.

Oh, and I still help her with trousers. Skirts/dresses and leggings she can usually do herself, though.

In these early days she'll be quite keen, before the novelty wears off, so you'll probably be fine with your travel potty. Personally I wouldn't put a nappy on her unless it's a long ish car journey when she might fall asleep - might be confusing?

Well, I'd say today has been a success overall . We had about 8 decent sized potty wees, one (huge!) wee on the floor and one damp nappy on waking after her nap this afternoon. Plus a spillage on the stairs when she tried to bring the full potty upstairs to show me . No poo today. So I think she's going to make a proper go of it, it would be mean of me to put her back in nappies after that (except sleeping).

I like the idea of a naked Christmas pretty sure my older ones may want to join in though, they'd happily run about naked all day I found some Charlie and Lola pants in DD1's outgrown stuff, they went down well, so its all looking positive for now at least!

Yes definitely get one, they're so handy when out (I just keep it in boot of car). Liners you can usually get cheaply from amazon. Even my older DD has used it in the last year.

We should rename it Christm-arse
