I have no idea what i'm doing.
Started toilet training yesterday at advice of nursery. It's half term so seemed like a good time to try. I have spent my day washing pants and carpets and not sure if we should continue. DS is 30months, keen to wear pants and keen to tell me when he's been to the toilet. Three times today I've known he needs to wee, put him on the toilet (with a toddler seat), sat with him, chatting, singing, talking about rewards for going etc for about 15min each time. Just when I've given up (because he's not been and is getting fidgety and tells me he doesn't need a wee) and he's gone to the sitting room he comes running to tell me he's been for a wee - literally 30sec after he got off the toilet!
Is this normal? Or do we give up for a few months.

I think I would leave it, maybe just for a few weeks rather than months. He needs to be able to tell you when he needs to go rather than when he has already been. I felt like it took ages for DS to be ready, but once he was there was no "training" involved. He just started using the potty, and very rarely had accidents.

thank you for your reply, have decided to wait until December when I've got a bit more time off work and he's 2months older...will just keep chatting about it 'til then and fingers crossed it will come a bit more naturally by then.
