DS1 started reception a couple of weeks ago.
He's been toilet trained since 2.5, has the odd accident with leaving it a fraction too late to go for a wee, but always go for a poo when he needs one.
Since starting reception, he's had several poo accidents. He says it's because he doesn't want to go to the toilet incase he misses something or loses the toy he's playing with.
I've explained to him that it's unacceptable, as he's deliberately avoiding going, and have introduced a reward system for the days he has no accidents, but he's soiled again today.
Has anyone else experienced this? Or have any advice?
For what it's worth, I also had another baby in the 6 weeks holidays, but he loves the baby and seems happy at home.

Speak to his class teacher, he/she should be able to help

What happens when he does it? Is he cleaned up and changed? Has the teacher told you about it? Are you sent home with poo.-ey clothes?

Ds1 did this at a similar age. It was partly holding in because he didn't want to miss anything, and largely because he was scared of the noise of the self-flushing urinal trough in the boys toilet.

Was a bit of a nightmare tbh as obv they weren't going to change the urinals, but we got there. Reward charts helped a bit, plus enlisting the help of his teacher who reminded him to go.

Hope things get better soon.

His teachers have been lovely, they don't seem overly concerned about it.
They give him wipes to clean himself up as they aren't allowed to, then he changes into the spare stuff I send in his bag. The dirty stuff comes to me in a bag when I collect him.
I don't know if I'm making it into a bigger issue than it needs to be, it just seems such a step backwards.
