We have been toilet training our 3.6yr old DS for just over a month. He has quickly become dry when it comings to weeing with no accidents since week 1. He has successfully pooed on the potty on a few occasions but most days he just does it in his pants.
We generally can predict when it will happen (time and location) so always ask if he would like to do it on the potty and we are always met with a firm 'no!!'
As he likes to crap al fresco, we always take the travel potty to the park and set it up for him just in case he wants to. He knows it is there and just goes behind another tree and does the deed!
Tbh, I am simply getting tired of scooping poo out of his pants and shorts and having a mass clean up operation on our hands, mainly when we are at the bloody park!
Is this normal and it will just take time? Any suggestions of how we can help him along?
We have tried offering incentives as well as saying what a shame his toy story/peppa pig pants have to be thrown out (seriously, it is that bad sometimes!) bit it is just not bothering him.
He is more bothered if he wees himself but the poo simply doesn't seem to bother him.

my ds did this. peer presure seemed to work saying saying 'oh > insert best friends name here < poos on the toilet like a big boy, isn't he clever' and then showering the friend in praise for pooing on toilet.

one day a friend said 'minipizza smelly pants' Sad but he mostly stopped after that.

And treats/rewards for when he did do it on toilet. usually a small chocolate lolly.

he's nearly 3 and not had a poo accident in 3-4 months.
