Should we let her choose to wear her nappy?

Started potty training yesterday. She is 24 months. Has been showing interest in potty since November and uses it regularly, very few accidents when we leave her bare bottomed. Yesterday we put her in knickers and she went on potty about 3 times and went on floor so many times I lost count. Put her in nappy for night, as night nappies always quite wet in morning. This morning she insists she wants a nappy on not knickers. Pretended I had to rush into kitchen, so that I could leave her bare bottomed and hope she would forget about nappy, but when I went back in room she got a nappy, laid on the floor and said she wants nappy.

Should I take his as a sign that she is not ready and go with what she wants or am I being too soft with her?

She's only just two, still very young for potty training really.

I would put the nappy on her and try again in a few months. I left potty training my dd until she was 2.7 and because she was older she had a better understanding. She was potty trained in 1 week (in the daytime).

If your dd is fighting it, it just won't work. She is still very young anyway.

I would. We've been on/off training DS since he was 25 months as he has been physically ready since then, being able to control etc, but after a day or 2 using the potty he will ask for a nappy on. Its only since yesterday he has decided no more nappies and wants to use the toilet - 4 months after we started trying.

She may be physically ready but she also needs to be emotionally ready. That will come in time, leave it for a month or 2 and see how she handles it then.

The thing with potty training is it's as much whether the child is emotionally ready as everything else imo. My dd stopped wearing nappies when she decided she was actually sick of having them on and she was just over 3. 24 months is still very young. I would say if she wants it on at this point let her have it on.

What Lottie&Mia said. I did push the issue with DS3 because I knew he could easily physically do it & he just didn't like change. But mostly it's about when they are emotionally ready. Just turned 2yo is very young.
