DS happy to use the potty at nursery but refuses point blank at home

DS (2.7) is doing very well using the potty at nursery (he's there from 8 to 4.45 everyday) but refuses to use it at home.
He has used it on a few occasions now just says: No. I. don't. want. to. use. the. potty.
He likes stickers but he's happy to do without rather than use the potty. At the moment, I am very unconfrontational i.e.: ah ok, no worries, if you don't want to use the potty, no problem. Shame about the stickers though.
Am I doing the right thing and is he eventually going to give up or am I missing a trick here?
Any advice or pearls of wisdom gratefully received.

I think being a bit firmer would help. If the nursery are expecting him to use the potty and he does, letting him have the option to refuse at home won't help him. I suspect they have a pro-active "it's time to sit on the potty now" or "tell us when you need the potty" approach rather than asking.

Would he prefer a potty like the nursery one, and find out exactly how they manage potty use and refusal so that you can do the same, consistency in how you deal with it is important. Also, don't ask if he needs the potty, just take him especially after meals and snacks.

We are having the dirty protest from our 3 year old. He can go all day at nursery using the potty and remaining dry but then the minute he gets home it is like he is punishing me. I put him straight on the potty and he happily goes, and gets his reward but shortly afterwards will wet/soil himself. This will happen multiple times. Whilst cleaning one mess, he will go again whilst on the naughty step. He doesn't seem at all bothered. Am getting desperate.
