So what age do you stop wiping your childrens bum?

DS is in reception, he doesn't poo in school. We have still been wiping him a second time after he does the first time.

When do you stop doing this? I think he is getting to the age where we shouldn't be doing it but then I worry if it isn't done properly, obviously we can see if its not done properly but DS can't.

Hey DD has just turned 4, she toilet trained early (22 months) and has been in knickers ever since but we still had to wipe her bum .. Se started going on her own but then at the end of the day there would always be stains etc in knickers :/ ... We tried everything (trying to prepare her for school in a few months when she will have to do it) but she sometimes missed bits.. In the end we taught her to bend over to touch her toes (I know it seems silly/gross but it was the only way I could think of to give her good easy access to entire bum) then wipe with tissue until all poo was gone.. Then use a wipe at the end (she chose some princess toilet wipes from asda and usually uses a couple because she loves them haha) .. Not sure if this is any help but good luck!

I still have a quick check (and wipe if required) of ds's bum (age 6).

Mine are 2 and 4. I wipe if they ask me to, otherwise I leave them to it and they generally do a pretty good job.

Thanks.

Just wanted to make sure I wasn't carrying on too long when I should be just letting him get in with it. Sometimes I worry that I keep things going for too long then realise that most people stopped doing it ages ago. Guess I don't like the idea that they are getting older. Grin
