I want to give up and it's only day 4

I feel I should know this? DD2 is DC3

I am sooooooo debating giving up for now? thought it was going ok, yesterday morning (day 3) we started well with a wee on the potty but then at lunchtime (so she's def getting better at holding it in) I dared to leave the room for 5 mins and of course that's when she had an accident.

She had tried to make it there herself but couldn't get her leggings down in time, so I don't know if in her two-year-old logic she then thought 'If you aren't going to take part, then neither am I' because she then had a further four accidents - pretty much on the hour - and for three of them I was right there and she didn't even move.

DH is really ill with tonsillitis so I've had no respite at all, we haven't been anywhere so we're all going bonkers. Other DCs are 4 and 6.

We did have some people over to visit for a bit yesterday afternoon so that could have distracted her for part of it.

So, either, plan a: continue, stick it out, don't back out now, or plan b: shove her back in nappies and actually go out a bit and regain some sanity.

Oh, day 2 we actually had a poo on the potty (she took herself as well) so I'm really torn on the continue-or-not front? Really appreciate any input (and thank you for reading!)

Keep it going! Maybe leave off the leggings and put stuff on her that's easy to take off. Good luck!!!

I would continue. Maybe take her to be toilet every half hour or so if she hasnt asked before, to get her used to the habit. Maybe go all out with the praise/ choc buttons!

Personally I wouldn't leave until 3

I would leave it if she is still having accidents every hour. Personally, I think if you need to take them to the toilet every 30 min-hour then they are not ready to be trained.

Every 30 mins for a week. Not for life! ( as a nanny I have trained over 20 little ones this way. All 20months-2.5years, usually start on average after 2nd birthday and within the week they are dry day time.

I would keep on as it sounds like it started really well. I used the GF book for reference and I was surprised at how well it worked.

Will be starting to train dc2 shortly. Not looking forward to it but as the poster above said it's only one week.

Well later that day I just thought I'd ask her what she wanted, knickers or nappy. She chose knickers, and we had a good day - one accident, poo on the potty (with DH, who has been ill and mostly in bed so she's been used to me). Great I thought, this is a turning point!!

But today? nothing. Only accidents, no successes at all, and she's not remotely bothered by having accidents. Today she hasn't even attempted to go near the potty. She just stands there, wees on the floor, looks down at the puddle, pokes at it with a foot and then carries on as if nothing has happened.

So we got a bit fed up and put her back in nappies for the last couple of hours and I'm back to sitting on the fence.

On the one hand, she's so close and clearly does get what's needed, but today it was like she just couldn't be arsed?

I did get her some new Peppa Pig knickers today and she did seen a bit peeved when I put them out of reach in a fit of pique so maybe tomorrow I'll ask again and if there's no success by lunchtime I'll postpone til the Easter hols.

Oh I forgot to say - she is 2.9 and a stubborn mare, so if you try putting her on the potty when she's not in the mood she just screams 'DON'T WANT TO! DON'T WANT TO!!' at full volume?

My ds is stubborn too so potty training should be interesting... Ds1 was very laid back and I think that helps as they tend to just take it as it comes whereas ds2 likes to be the one to make decisions.

Gotta love those Peppa Pig 'nee-nees'!! I've a varied selection here between Peppa and Minnie Mouse and the wee fairy won't even look at them.......... tsk! My dd is a stubborn mare too, must be something to do with 2010 babies??!!
