DS is soiling his pants as a way of taking my attention away from his baby brother.

I had a feeling this was his new strategy and he's admitted as much to me today. He's 3.5. I haven't got cross with him, I'm just sad. We've tried everything to get him to use the toilet for over a year, all good positive approaches and now he's using poo as some kind of psychological weapon.

He knows how to do it properly - he can hold it in until he climbs on the loo but chooses not to. He'll just hold it in until the (rare!) occasions that I'm focussed completely on DS2 (usually a feed) and then he'll fill his pants. I clean him up without comment so he doesn't get much out of it... No idea how to break this stalemate.

:(

Try and make some time for just you and him easier said than done with a baby I imagine.

that's the thing Scariest - he gets loads of 1-on-1 time. DS2 definitely suffers from a bit of neglected second child syndrome
