Hi, my 2.0 yr old has been using the potty for the last 5 days. We started training almost by accident after a nightmare few weeks trying to change his nappies! Its going really well with the wees with almost no accidents but the poos are a bit hit and miss (as is normal i think).

The problem we have is that we began by just leaving his bottom half bare. Initially he would go and stand over the potty to wee but is now sitting down for it. I have now started putting some jogging bottoms/shorts on (no underpants yet) but he wont pull them down. He just sits on the potty with them on and wee's. If you try to interfere he gets really annoyed. So i am back to a bare bottom!

Any advice on how to get past this would be great! Thanks x

I think he's quite young to be managing his own clothes. Would it help if you could teach him to say 'potty!' when he needs it, so that you can help him? Or, would he be better wearing just underpants instead of the shorts/joggers?

Hey thanks for the advice. I didnt really expect him to take his own clothes off, but if you try to help him he gets really defensive and wont let you! think i will just continue without bottoms for a while until he really gets the hang of it!
