Little boy, 3.4, will not poo in toilet, only in night time nappies, and has started to verbally link poo with death!!!

my little boy will not use the toilet to poo. He's happy to pee in it, that's all fine. But he won't poo in the toilet or in a potty, and saves it up for his night time nappies. Also, when he went in his pants the other day, he said "I died" when he told me what had happened. And he went in his night-time nappie tonight, twice, while I was out. The babysitter changed him, and he was a bit upset she said, and also said he had thanked her when she changed him, saying " thank you, you saved my life".
This is beginning to all sound kinda crazy, although he is a melodramatic little guy, with a vivid turn of phrase. And he doesn't really understand these things he's saying, but still.... Not sure what to make of it. Has anyone experienced anything like this? What seems really strange to me is that he's a totally confident child, and not prone to any nerves, or worries, or sensitive stuff, he's a really happy and nothing seems to worry him apart from this? What to do?!?!

Didn't want you to go unanswered, but no advice. Possibly speak to your hv or gp as the death thing is quite unusual I think.

Maybe explain to your DS what poo is & where it comes from, if you haven't already.

My DS is a similar age and finds it really funny that what he eat turns into poo - "This banana's going to turn into poo, ha ha ha!"
