Got cross, and now 4 yr old won't use potty!

I got really cross and shouted at my 4 year old and when he peed on the lounge floor the other day telling him he was naughty and I was disappointed. Prior to the accident I had been asking him all morning to sit on the potty, even putting him on the potty, but he kept refusing.

I know you're not supposed to get cross about it, remain positive, and am also well aware that he's only 4 and accidents do happen, but life is a bit stressful at the moment and I had one of those frustrated, hectic moments where loads was going on and I was cross about having to clear up the mess.

Anyway, since then he's refused to go on the potty, and is having accidents all the time. Playschool, at home, out, everywhere!

I can't undo what's done, but I am stuck on how to move forward, and want to get back on a positive footing.

Help! Any advice very gratefully received.

Has he been fairly reliable up until now? If so, he may have a urine infection... UTI.
Children often have accidents if they have an infection.
Also, keep it very low key. Lots of praise when he does wee on potty, and just quietly clean him up when he has an accident.
I feel for you. I have three daughters all with toileting problems.

Definitely check if he has a UTI
How long has he been potty trained? Worth suggesting he starts using the toilet, as a way to change the focus?
