2.8 DD wants to wear pants but doesn't like potty and won't tell us that she needs a wee!

Sorry for long title!

Yesterday DD decided that there was no way I was putting a nappy on her, she wanted to wear pants, so I thought we'd give it a go. She has not done a single wee in the potty so far, I have lost count of how many changes of clothes and pants she's gone through. She has sometimes told us when she's started to wee, and we have just about got her onto potty, but most of the time she just doesn't tell us she needs to. Am trying to sit her on potty as often as I can, but she seems to hate it. The toilet is even worse, even though she has a nice padded seat. What should we do?? I can't see how I can leave the house this week, should I give up??

Bump. No advice I'm afraid but marking my place as we're two weeks in and after some initial success my dd is happily going in her pants with no warning but outright refuses to go back to nappies. Have tried bribes and coercion but no apparent headway being made. So bored of washing tiny pants every night.

Thanks for the bump! I feel your pain. I have to 'fess up - I gave up and put her in pull-ups Blush. She was getting very upset. She hasn't had pull-ups before and thinks they're pants. I'll try iagain in a month or so, will keep encouraging the potty, I think the problem was that she's never been interested in it, even though we've had it for ages. She got through 20 of pants in less than 2 days. I hope your DD has lots of success this week xx

Hope this helps, with my DS1 he wore pants with shorts on the top (pull ups) he then got to experience of being wet when having wee'd but we were not washing trousers, furniture, toys and carpets after him. We also rewarded each wee in the potty or toilet with a choc choc from the potty pot, this was simply a very small pot and he got a choc button (not pack!!!) each time he did a wee. He cracked it very quickly.

I'm the same. DD1 (2.6) is desperate to wear pants and we try it once or twice a week, but I can ask her if she needs a wee and she says no and then has one!!!! Literally as I am asking her!!!! Fortunatly we go out alot so she has to go in nappies then. She won't even tell me when she's done a poo in her nappy but so wants to be a 'big girl' and go on the potty. :(

We've turned a corner I think as had 5 successful potty visits in a row this am (followed by 3 accidents this afternoon). Seems to be a mix of finally just clicking and smarties ( one for trying, two if something comes out). Turns out smarties really do have the answer. Good luck everyone.
