So if DS2 got himself up at 1am this morning, went for a wee and then went straight back to bed, does that mean he is ready for no pull-ups at night??

He is 3.3 and only been potty trained for a couple of weeks so am that he did this. He also gets up in the morning and goes for a wee rather than stay in his bedroom and wee in his pull-up (like DS1 used to ) And last night, he ended up in his PJ's/pull-up earlier than normal but still chose to go to the potty rather than wee in them.

Was fully expecting him to be in pull-ups for at least another year (DS1 wasn't dry at night until he was 4.5) but am wondering whether this is it??

if he hasn't had a wee in his pull ups for several night then yes he is ready - know quite a few kids who was soon as they were dry in the day were dry at night - not like my DS1 - still not completely dry at 6 :-(

I told my DD 3 nights with dry pull ups and we would throw them away

but then she refused to wear them the second night so I gave in :)

only once had a wet bed and that was when she had a UTI

you may have the odd accident but it will save you a fortune in pull-ups lol

Thanks - difficult to say whether he has had a wee in his pull-up as they seem dry but he may have had one small wee early on in the night - certainly not soaking wet like DS1's always were

As for £££'s, we have just bought a packet of pull-ups so have supplies for a couple more weeks so may see how it goes for a few more nights

Another my friend's DS is 6.5 and still not dry at night either so I do sympathise as I have seen how frustrating she is finding it.

DS was dry by day at 2 but took two further years to manage it at night (and not very well even then...)

DD as soon as she was dry in the day (also 2) straight away was dry at night too - so just depends on the child. For her, what she'd learned to do by day just carried over to night too.

Would let him try without (but a plastic sheet on the bed).

He's ready. Put a rubber sheet or pampers care mat on the bed. Some do it all at the same time, DS2 was like this.

My dd was dry at 2.3 at night. She is3.5 now and we have the odd accident but she is pretty reliable. She refused to wear pull ups so I gave her a go.

Thanks - I don't find it that bad -pretty sure he will grow out of it but DS is a bit upset about it - says if people at school knew they would laugh at him -which makes me sad

It is difficult to know when I have only got my experience with DS1 to go on and he was a lazy bugger typical boy who would rather wee in his pull-up than get out of bed It took a good 18 months after he was dry in the day to be dry in the night aswell.

Another yes, I think it is the embarrassment factor as we were out for lunch with all the DC the other day and she mentioned it in front of me and my DS1 and her DS kicked off (I thought it was a bit mean of her tbh as he really was upset that she had told us but I guess she was hoping that it might make him try harder iyswim).
