So... what are you supposed to do when they wet themselves in the middle of a tantrum?!

We are about a month into potty training DD, it is fairly slow going as although she gets the idea and is (slowly) making progress she is very easily distracted and hates being 'told' to go to the potty.

Anyway, in the last few days there have been 3 occasions where she has full on wet herself (normally if she had an accident she would wet a little and then be able to hold it in until she got to the potty) in the middle of a tantrum. Normally with tantrums I completely ignore her and we have a chat when she has calmed down... but I don't feel like I can do this while she is soaked with wee? But I think now she has clicked that I will pay her attention if she wets herself.

What do other people do?

This is difficult, but i would really still pretend to ignore her. if you can't do that: clean her up in the most dull way possible. No eye contact and no discussion.Try not to shout either.

ds used to do this and to be honest I ignored it. Once the tantrum was over I very casually cleaned him/ carpet etc up. We were very lucky and it stopped very, very quickly.
