DS starts wee in pants then rushes to the potty, is this normal?

DS 2.6 potty training day 3. Today DS has done about 6 wees whereby he has started them in his pants and then come running in to tell me and quick hopped on the potty and done the rest of it there.
Is this normal? How much do I praise this?

This is pretty usual while they get used to realising they need to wee, try to hold on while they tell you/try to get to the potty/try to get pants down etc.

You definitely praise that he has told you and gone to the potty to finish. I think the control will come in time.
