Accidents in public - what's your MO?

We had our first piddle in public today, next to the toddler books in our local library. Her dress wasn't wet but I had a spare so removed it and used it to mop up before going to tell the staff, who said they'd get something to spray on it. Hadn't encountered this before/really thought about what we'd do - what's your MO? Did I do right?

Sounds about right. I used to carry terry squares and wipes around with me to clean up puddles. Might be worth taking an old towel if you haven't got terries. Then sling it in a plastic bag and take it home to wash. You can get disinfectant wipes too to make an extra good job of the floor.

This happened to me in Smyths toybshop the other day. Dd2 had an accident whilst she was playing with one ofnthe toy kitchens. I cleaned it and her up and a women with a small baby gave me such a dirty look and gutted very loudly. I turned to her and told her that it will be her turn one day then noticed her footwear. She was wearing lillie Kelly shoes. The baseball type in bright pink colour with full on beads and glitter. I then found my self telling her that someone wearing those shoes had no right to judge anyone

Thanks Annie. Just hadn't even occurred to me (she's been doing great and I'd already checked several times she didn't need to go Hmm). Will start carrying an old towel (was one in the car for her to sit on now I think about it).

Fun, this parenting lark, isn't it? Wink

Oh, and put her in Crocs - quick rinse in the sink and you're good to go! They are shoes designed for potty training! Wink

a nappy is great for clearing up wee spills. last time ds had an accident i used one of dd's nappies to wipe the floor, and dry with a mussie square.
i've also used a a nappie in the potty to absorb wee in a shopping centre when ds neeeded a wee NOW and we were miles from the loos. i didn't fancy carrying a potty full of wee. :)
